Working together to improve the quality of your candidate & employee journey
Being an HR professional you will obviously be familiar with the Groundbreaking Employer concept. This learning network of organisations seeking to develop and position themselves as sustainable and people-centred employers continues to gain popularity. 34 organisations and 48 participants gathered at DPG Media in Antwerp on Tuesday 10 September. The agenda included a Champion Session during which Doffice fired the imagination of attendees with groundbreaking insights into attraction, recruitment & retention.
Bearing in mind that Doffice is still brand new, a comprehensive introduction was in order. The relationship with Jobat and BBWG was highlighted first, following which the focus was on key findings from our market research concerning candidate insights. Katrien Meert, HR Business Partner at Mensura, expressed her appreciation for the in-depth nature of the survey:
“You went beyond numbers and statistics and really managed to read candidates’ minds with your questioning approach. By knowing what’s going on their minds, we have a better chance of winning them over.”

Inspiration and interaction
After the introduction, attendees engaged in ‘design thinking’ exercises that focused on improving the candidate and employee journey. What was special about the sessions was the interaction. Ideas and best practices were spontaneously exchanged and brainstorming sessions focused on attraction, recruitment and retention. How these key HR processes can be optimised and implemented differently.
“The atmosphere during breakouts was amazing.” Sara Walraven, who represented Liantis, considered it a valuable experience: “Great to meet people in different roles and at different companies who think about, and sometimes struggle with, the same issues as we do. Cool to inspire one another and think together! A reminder to myself to reach out to others more often to exchange ideas.”
Quick wins for Groundbreaking Employers
Finally, tips & tricks were shared on how to get even more out of Groundbreaking Employer certification.
- Make sure that the Groundbreaking Employer logo appears on each relevant web page of your career site and link it to a one-pager or dedicated page that explains what this means for your organisation. In the end it’s all about link building (attraction).
- Use the certificate as a conversation starter during job interviews and educate your recruiters about the values of GBE (recruitment).
- Four moments that matter which demonstrate you are a Groundbreaking Employer and ensure that employees feel that they are ambassadors for your organisation … practice what you preach (retention).
The ultimate tip? Incorporate the GBE label into every step of the candidate & employee journey to ensure that it is a reflection of what you represent as an organisation rather than just a quality mark.
Ruben Van Goethem, pacesetter of Groundbreaking Employer, made another compliment:
“The potential of a flawless candidate & employee experience is huge. It is advisable, therefore, to underpin such important moments with robust data and the necessary know-how. And these are precisely the two assets that Doffice excels at.”
The great thing about Groundbreaking Employer is that the self-learning network really focuses on people & planet, with an inspirational approach. Do we feel proud that we were able to contribute to this? What do you think 😉?
